Do you dream of having beautiful hands and perfectly polished nails?
Yeah! We all have a dream of beautiful nails without having a visit to the beauty salon. We do not always have the time or budget. The good news is that it is entirely possible to carry out a professional manicure at home. All you have to do is follow the different steps and have the right equipment.
In this article, you will find, in detail, all the different stages of a professional homemade manicure! The sessions with the beautician are overpriced, knowing that a manicure is every week! So, I invite you to invest a small budget in the purchase of creams and utensils and give yourself a little moment of weekly relaxation of hand and nail care…
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT STEPS FOR A HOME MANICURE?
In order to succeed in your homemade manicure, it is essential to follow these different steps:
Step 1: Remove nail varnish properly (or paint residues).
To make your homemade manicure a success, start by removing the previous varnish using a mild solvent without acetone. Make sure there is no trace of varnish left and clean your hands and nails well.
Step 2: Filing
You should always start by filing your nails. If you prefer to use a nail clipper or scissors, these are less precise and favor duplication.
So the best way is to maintain these nails every week. File each time a little in order to control the length you want.
Yes, ladies! There is a very particular method to file your nails anyway! This technique helps to prevent your nails from splitting.
A nail is always filed from the outside to the inside. That is to say that we always start from the sides. File your nail in the shape of a round towards the center. Always trim in the same direction, therefore no round trip with the file.
Step 3: Preparing the cuticles
Now cover the area around your nails with emollient gel to soften the cuticles and make your manicure easier. Then massage gently to exfoliate the edge of the nail.
I suggest a tip for making your homemade emollient: soak your fingers for 10 minutes in lukewarm olive oil. If you do it once a week, it will reduce your cuticles. Besides, this 100% natural emollient is therefore devoid of sodium hydroxide that is usually found in commercial emollients…!
Olive oil is expensive. I advise you to invest in a low-end olive oil, like in a plastic bottle, which you will use only for your hair, nail care, etc.
Step 4: Dip your fingers
Always with your emollient gel or olive oil on your nails, dip your nails in warm water with lemon (or baking soda) for 2 to 10 minutes. Lemon accentuates the white of the nails. However, if you prefer, you can add essential oils, argan oil this step will cleanse the smoothing, clear any impurities and soften the cuticles.
Step 5: Cut the dead skin around the nail
Now you are finally ready to begin the actual manicure session! Once your hands are dry, let’s tackle the most delicate part. Cut the cravings and the slightly hardened skin that surrounds the free end of the nail.
Step 6: Push back the cuticles
Now you can proceed very slowly to clear the cuticles. In manicure, we usually use a boxwood stick, the end of which you have wrapped with a small piece of cotton. You can soak the cotton with moisturizer or oil to avoid attacking them as much as possible.
Step 7: Polishing
To facilitate the nail polish and make a perfect result using the polishing pad on each of your fingernails. You will remove any roughness so that they are smooth and soft.
Step 8: Caring for your hands
Then apply a moisturizer on your hands. You can use Nivea or special hand cream. These cream are best for optimum care. It is a hydrating cream concentrated in glycerin. They’re used to nourish the protective film of the skin. Gently massage your fingers and nails. Gesture to renew daily to keep beautiful hands.
Step 9: Cuticle Oil
To hydrate your nails, you can apply a nourishing oil on the contours.
For example, if your nail contours are irritated and look like an onion because you’ve eaten them too often. Use cuticle oil, which will have a “glue” effect to remove lousy skin. The outline of your nails will be neater, and the mini skins are almost invisible.
Step 10: Apply the first coat of varnish
Before applying your varnish, you can apply a base depending on your type of nail. For example, if they are streaked, go for a repair varnish. If they are soft, the hardener varnish is more suitable. You can also use a base coat that will protect the nail from yellowing caused by the repeated use of varnish and base to better fix the material on the nail.
So, your at-home manicure is done. Rather than thinking of going to the salon, try to utilize your time to take care of yourself at home.
